Lot 2867
Commemorative Series, 330-354. Follis (Bronze, 18 mm, 2.93 g, 6 h), Rome, 331-333. VRBS ROMA Helmeted and mantled bust of Roma to left. Rev. She-wolf standing left, suckling Romulus and Remus; above, two eight-pointed stars; in exergue, R(palm)Q. RIC -. Extremely rare. Somewhat smoothed and repatinated, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Dr. L. Ramskold, privately acquired from John & Hannelore Scheiner on 15 April 1998.

When Bruun compiled RIC VII, he was aware of a single coin from the R(palm)P emission featuring Constantine I, listed by him as RIC VII 372. Today, all types from this emission have been attested, yet they remain very rare, with only a handful known of each type. Ramskold (2020) subsequently revised the dating of this emission to 331-333.
